Obituary

Scott V. Miller of Deerfield passed away surrounded by his family at St. Luke’s Memorial Hospital on October 23. He was 63. He was born in Utica on May 11, 1960 to Arthur Thomas Miller, Sr. and Zelda Deis Miller. Scott was a graduate of Whitesboro Senior High School, and received his college education at Mohawk Valley Community College and SUNY Polytechnic Institute.

Scott married his beloved wife, Barbara Godbey, on August 6, 1983. He worked for the State University of New York from 1984 to 2017, primarily at SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Marcy.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Godbey-Miller; their adored daughters and their spouses, Ellen and Greg Luther of Astoria, N.Y., and Amy and Roberto Cruz of Troy, N.Y.; his granddaughter, Alice Luther; his siblings and their spouses, Arthur Thomas and Mary Jane Miller; Lee and Brian Dubiel; and Zoe and Don Hicks; his sisters-in-law, Jane Godbey and Judy Petroski; his brother-in-law, Ray Petroski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Calling hours are Friday, October 27 at Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road in New Hartford, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 am, at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1640 Genesee Street in Utica.

In lieu of flowers, friends and loved ones may consider making a memorial donation to a charity of their choosing.
