William P. Koscielniak, 83, of New Hartford, passed away on Monday, April 13 at The Pines of Utica.
He was born on April 6, 1943, in Utica, a son of the late John and Emily (North) Koscielniak. William graduated from New Hartford High School. He proudly served in the US Navy as a Fire Control Technician, and after active duty, he served with the Naval Reserves. He worked at Mitel Business Communication and then worked at St. Lawrence-Lewis County BOCES.
In William’s free time, his passion was painting with acrylics. He loved creating mountain and water scenes, and his other passion was sailing on the St. Lawrence River.
He is survived by his sister, Joanne Fountain and her husband, Richard; his sister-in-law, Patricia Koscielniak; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, John Koscielniak.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the 3rd floor at the Pines of Utica for their care and compassion shown to William, especially to Kim and Carlos.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 23, at 10:00 am at Historic Old St. John’s Church, Utica, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated and Military Honors conferred by the U.S. Navy. The family will welcome guests at the conclusion of Mass. His burial will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.
