Obituary

Wayne G. McDermott, 89, of Clinton, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on August 1, 1934, in Theresa, NY, a son of the late Raymond and Gertrude Seymour McDermott. He graduated from Whitesboro High School. On October 2, 1954, Wayne married Dorothy Bord in Calvary Episcopal Church in Utica. Wayne worked for Special Metals and retired in 1992.

With his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; daughters, Katherine Larin and her husband, David of SC, Kimberly Docherty and her husband, James of FL and Laurie Smith and her husband, Stephen of Oriskany, NY; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren; brother, Richard McDermott and sister, Janice Guilford and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Bethany McDermott and four brothers.

The memorial service will be on Friday, January 19, at 11:00 am at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
