Obituary

Walter A. Peeters, 85, of Oneonta, NY, formerly of Franklin, NY, passed away on February 9, 2026 with his family by his side, at Sitrin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in New Hartford, NY. 

Walter was born on December 27, 1940, in Jamaica, NY. The son of the late Walter J. Peeters and Adeline(Baul) Peeters. He was educated at Valley Stream school system, Valley Stream, NY.

Walter was married to Linda Cromwell at Grace Lutheran Church in Malverne, NY, in 1962. Together they shared over sixty years of love and devotion up until her passing in 2024.

A skilled tradesman, Walter was a contractor and owner of Wilson Roofing, serving the Oneonta area for many years. He was known for his work ethic and dedication to his business.

Walter served as President of the Oneonta Outlet Rod & Gun Club in North Franklin, NY and coached high school trapshooting at the Oneonta Sportsmen’s Club.

In his free time, Walter enjoyed restoring antique outboard motors, hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time outdoors. He was a true outdoorsman.

Walter is survived by his daughters, Christa Carson (James), and Wendy Peeters (Sam Lawyer); grandchildren, Kevin Carson (Erin), Ryan Carson (Leah), Lucas Peeters, and Emma Peeters; great granddaughter, Adeline Carson; sister, Arline Peeters; and sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and David Forbes

In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by his lovingwife, Linda (Cromwell) Peeters.
