Obituary

Terrance J. Anweiler, 82, of New Hartford, passed peacefully on Monday, August 10, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on February 8, 1944, in Malone, NY, the son of the late Rudolph M. and Marjorie McCracken Anweiler. Terry was raised in a military family and had the opportunity to live in many different countries before his family returned to Rome, NY, where he graduated from Rome Free Academy. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War Era.

On November 10th, 1965, Terry married the love of his life, Marjorie King, in California and together, they shared a blessed marriage of over 60 years.

Terry worked for Niagara Mohawk for 32 years, retiring in 1999. He was also a member of the Niagara Mohawk Retirees Club.

A kind and patient man of great wisdom and humor, Terry was happiest in the kitchen or at the grill cooking for his family.  He also loved working on projects and puttering around the house or family camp at fourth lake. Known as a jack-of-all-trades, there was little he couldn’t fix or figure out.  More than anything, Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be missed dearly by many.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marjorie of New Hartford; his children, Jeffrey Anweiler and his wife, Lisa, of New Hartford, and Cyndy Timm and her husband, Bob, of Old Forge; his daughter-in-law, Leslie Anweiler of Marcy; his grandchildren, Jacob and Emma Anweiler, Nathan and Lauren Timm, Maddie Reinhardt and her husband, Jonathan, and Shane Anweiler; his siblings, Donna McCaffrey and her husband, Bob, of Rome, Lynda McCarthy and her husband, Dan, of Virginia, and Rudy Anweiler of Rome; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Terry “Chip” Anweiler.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
