Takeisha E Thompson, affectionately known as Key or Keeta, was born on August 19, 1977, in Bronx, New York, to the late Chesley Thompson and the surviving William Hill and died on Sunday June 14, 2026. She spent her most recent years in Utica, New York, where she became a dedicated employee at RCIL where she excelled in her duties as file clerk for 11 years. She was bestowed the title of “The File Queen” by her co-workers who greatly appreciated her service.
She is survived by her grandmother Ella B. Hill. Her sisters, Jasmine Thompson, Sheena Thompson, and Imani Hill. Her nieces and nephews Zayquan Carrol, Kaitlynn Thompson, and Dinero Thompson. As well as her aunts Michele Aiken, Chana Fritzinger, Pamela Hill, Cynthia Hill, Thelma, and Uncle Michael A. Hill. Her cousins Keith Barrett, Joseph Holder, Daniel Williams and his better half Zuri Williams, Corinthia Williams, Sherod Hill, Lucinda Cross-Hill, Nia Hill, Niam Hill, Cha’z McNeil, Shenique McNeil, Alfie McNeil, Tanita Brinkley, and Lyle Thompson jr. The children of her cousins Jada Dawkins, Lashawn Forgit, Anastasia Barrett, Alannah Barrett, Keith Barrett, Issac Barrett, Evalina Barrett, Tamia Holder, Jasir Holder, Josiah Holder, Noah Holder, Dante Williams, and Danielle Williams. Her lifelong best friends Melinda Rodriguez and Rita Smith. And lastly but certainly not least a host of family and friends that loved her.
Takeisha loved to get the family together for good laughs and food. Her passion was cooking and she wanted to learn as many recipes as she could. She was truly a joyful giver. She would literally give the shirt off her back if you needed it. In the community she served hot meals to the hungry when she was able. She definitely made an impact on everyone she met. She was also a slight shopaholic, and Takeisha had a particular love for sneakers and handbags. Takeisha’s biggest hope though, was for family to come together and stay together. She had the biggest heart, she wore it on her sleeve, and it shone through daily. She managed to be both the life of the party and the voice of reason to the many she loved. She will be sorely missed.
Her funeral will be on Wednesday June 24, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St., Utica. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11:00 pm to 12:00 pm prior to the funeral.
