Obituary

Sun C. Haltiner, 79, of New Hartford passed away peacefully on Monday, August 17, 2026, surrounded by her family.

She was born in South Korea and was a lifelong resident of the Mohawk Valley. She was an exceptional cook and could always be counted on for family meals that brought everyone together. Her authentic and homemade egg rolls are a family favorite and there were always plenty to go around. She enjoyed traveling and did so extensively with a memorable trip being one to Switzerland. She also enjoyed a good road trip with the family, no matter the destination.

Sun will be lovingly remembered as a beautiful wife, mother and grandmother who was tremendously caring and loyal to her family. Always putting family first, no sacrifice was too great. She leaves a lasting influence on her children and grandchildren which will never be forgotten.

Sun is survived by her children, Diane (husband Rob), and William (wife Kathryn), and four grandchildren whom she adored, Alexander, Olivia, Alexis, and Jacob. She is also survived by a sister, Chu Cha, and her family. Sun is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings, and her beloved husband Jack.

A private funeral and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
