Shirley (Evans Queck) D’ Accurzio, (98) of Wiley Hall of the Masonic Care Community and formerly of New Hartford, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at the Wynn Hospital.

Shirley was born August 9, 1927 in Utica, daughter of the late Clayton and Florence Sewell Evans.  She was a graduate of UFA and the Utica School of Commerce.

Shirley was married to Harry Queck who sadly passed away June 30, 1969 at the young age of 44 years after a brief illness.  She later married Albert “Mutz”  D’Accurzio on December 10, 1982 in All Saints Episcopal Church, a union of 39 years until his passing on October 2, 2022.

For many years until her retirement, Shirley was a medical secretary for several doctors in the Utica area.  She was a life-long Episcopalian and was a member of All Saints Episcopal Church where she served on many committees in various capacities including the Vestry and Directress of the Altar Guild.

Shirley and Al enjoyed a fulfilling and lively retirement.  When they weren’t entertaining at home, they loved traveling through Europe and spending part of the winter in warmer locales.  She and Albert loved watching golf and betting on horse races.  A lifelong reader, Shirley especially appreciated a good book recommendation from family and friends..

Shirley is survived by her daughter and son- in- law, Pamela and Richard Joswick; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Carol Queck; grandchildren, Amber (Michael) Fulmer, Geoffrey Queck, Ashley (Casey) Grant and Corrinne (Marc) Jackson; and great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Lillian Queck and Wilder and Colette Grant.  She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Susan Evans, her brother-in-law Alan Dowd and her four nephews, their families, and several cousins.

Also dear to Shirley are Albert’s family, his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Albert and Deborah D’ Accurzio; daughter, Marlene D’ Accurzio; grandchildren, Michael (Carolann) D’Accurzio, Daniel (Colleen)  D’Accurzio,  Allison (partner Josh Andrews) D’ Accurzio; and Briana (Emily ) D’Accurzio; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Michael Jr., Daniel Jr., John and Abigail D’ Accurzio, and his nieces Mary Ann and Leon DeBernardis, Jr. and Teresa Ann and Paul Dunn.

Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter in law Julia Sherman Queck and her sister Nancy Dowd.

The family would like to thank the staff at Wiley Hall at the Masonic Care Community for their kindness and professionalism during her stay.

Family and friends are invited to attend Shirley’s Funeral Service Friday, August 22, 2025 at 10:30 AM at Tompkins Chapel at the Masonic Care Community.   She will be laid to rest at Crown Hill Memorial Park at the convenience of the family.
