On Sunday, August 6, 2017, Ronald Cavalier Morelle, age 86, passed away peacefully at the Masonic Care Community in Utica, New York.

Ronald was born in Utica on October 10, 1930, the son of Joseph and Teresa Cavalier Morelle. He graduated from Proctor High School in 1949 and was employed predominantly in civil and community service, retiring in 1992.

On September 15, 1955, Ronald married Rosalie Ann Forlano and their years together were filled with family gatherings and good friends. Ronald especially loved being with his daughter, son-in-law and his grandchildren. Ronald was loved and will be forever in our hearts.

Ronald was committed to serving others and he was most proud of his election as an Oneida County Legislator, a position he held for 8 years. Other areas where he was a long-standing community servant include being a committee member of the local political parties, a member of the New Hartford Planning Board, Chairman of the New Hartford Citizen Committee of Department of Public Workers, Head Usher for St. John the Evangelist Church, Board of Trustees for the Utica Public Library, Manager for New York State Off Track Betting, and Secretary for the Utica, New York Civil Service Office. Ronald had been employed by Metropolitan Life in automotive, health and life insurance. He also had previously held a New York State Real Estate license.

Ronald was predeceased by his parents; brothers Walter and Gilbert; infant children Ronald and Rondalyn; brothers and sisters-in-law Carl, Anthony, Frederick, Jane, Delores, Toni; mother and father-in-law, Mary and Frank Forlano; niece Diane and nephew Arthur.

He is survived by his bride of 61 years, Rosalie; his daughter Regina (Paul) Heiland; grandchildren Paul III, Mary, and Joseph; brother Francis, sister Marie Tulloch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Donna Morelle, Juliette Morelle, Theresa Forlano, Mary Ann Morelle; many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends including Jim Stephens and Rick Garrett.
The family would like to thank Uncle Fran, Cousin Teresa, and friends Jim and Rick for their numerous visits and calls to Dad while he was in the hospital and nursing home. We also thank the doctors, nurses and aids of the Masonic Care Community (Placid Community) for their compassion, friendship and excellent care. A special note of gratitude is given to Rev. Msgr. John Flanagan for his prayerful presence and Anointing of the Sick during Dad’s last days.

The Resurrection Mass will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m.at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Road in New Hartford with Reverend Kevin Bunger officiating. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
