Obituary

Robert G. Cheron, MD, 75, of New Hartford, died February 24, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital.

He was born April 6, 1948 in Brooklyn, NY, son of the late Abraham Jacob Cheron and Florence Kahle Cheron. He attended Xaverian High School in Brooklyn, Boston College, and SUNY Downstate Medical School.

He was an endocrinologist, along with his wife, at Mohawk Valley Endocrinology. Prior to that, he had practices in Brooklyn and Plainview, NY, and was an Attending Physician at SUNY Downstate.

Bob was an active member of Mary Mother of Our Savior Church (Lourdes Campus).

He enjoyed many activities including sailing, carpentry, recreational shooting, photography, and creating stained glass works. He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife. He was an avid reader and enjoyed stamp collecting and was a member of the American Philatelic Society.

Bob will be remembered as being a good friend, a wonderful husband, a dedicated physician, and a loving father.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Margarita Perez Cheron, MD of New Hartford; his former wife Judith; and their children Robert A. Cheron (Ann Colter) of Alexandria, VA, Rebecca F. Perillo (Jason) of Shelton, CT, and Daniel M. Cheron (Elizabeth) of Wellesley, MA; his grandchildren Baynes, Ronan, Lydia, Jack, and Kate, and a special cousin Marc Cheron of Baldwin, NY.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. Hugh MacIsaac, Dr. Daniel Berg, Dr. Matthew Ulahannan, and the staff of the Strong Memorial Cardiac ICU and Dr. Joshi of the Advanced Heart Failure Center.

Calling hours are on Friday, March 8, from 5-7 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 9:00 AM at Mary Mother of Our Savior Church (Lourdes Campus). Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
