Obituary

Richard “Rick” C. Simons, 91, of New Hartford, died on Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Presbyterian Home.

He was born on April 2, 1927, in Amsterdam, NY, a son of the late Fern Bronson. He was educated locally and graduated from Morrisville College. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during WWII. Rick married Helen Betts on June 7, 1952, in New Hartford and she died on January 18, 2012. He worked his entire career as a draftsman at Griffiss Air Force Base.

Rick was a member of the New Hartford American Legion and the Yorkville VFW. He was a well respected bowler in the Utica area and also enjoyed playing golf.

Rick is survived by his daughter, Gail Knobloch and her husband, Rick; sister in law, Patty Simons; grandchildren, Brian Knobloch and his wife, Kim, Kristen Harris and her husband, Mathiew and Jillian Knobloch and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Kenneth Ray Simons.

The family would like to offer a heartfelt thank you to all the staff for all the special care given to Rick while at Presbyterian Home.

The service will be on Friday at 11:00 at the Presbyterian Home in the Emmaus Room. Interment will be in the spring in the Forest Park Cemetery in Camden. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
