Obituary

Richard J. Everett, 89, of New Hartford died February 11, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

He was born January 19, 1929 in Utica, the son of the late Richard F. and Josephine Everett. He graduated from New Hartford High School and attended Utica College. Richard served with US Navy Seabees during World War II and Korea.

He married Marie DiNitto on July 20, 1957 at St. Anthony’s Church, Utica. Marie died March 9, 2001.

Richard was a Mechanical Engineer with Chicago Pneumatic until his retirement.

He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, Utica Council # 189 Knight of Columbus, the Willowvale Volunteer Fire Department and the Lions Club.

Richard enjoyed woodworking. He also enjoyed taking part in plays at the Players Theater, and prior to that in high school. He also loved sailing and spending vacations on Piseco Lake.

He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Laurie and Dean Tucciarone of New Hartford, Pamela and Mark Mercer of Ephratah, NY; three grandchildren, Amanda and Alissa Tucciarone, and Kayla Michele Mercer; his sisters-in-law Janet DiNitto of Chadwicks, and Joyce (John) Rienzo, Calverton, LI and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret Stappenback and his brother Frank Everett.

The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the caregivers from One Caring Place for all of the care given to Richard.

The funeral will be Saturday at 1:00 PM at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10 AM – 12:00 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Interment will be in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
