Richard G. Zogby Sr., DDS FACD, passed away August 4, in Pittsford, NY at the age of 97.

He was born in Utica, NY on May 30, 1928, son of Gabriel J. and Deeby Francis Zogby.

Known as Dick, he was educated in Utica schools and graduated from Proctor High School in 1946. He served in the United States Navy for two years, leaving as a Pharmacist Mate 3rd Class before going to Niagara University. He received his DDS degree from the University of Buffalo Dental School in 1954.

After graduation, he served a dental internship at Rome State School. A practicing dentist for 50 years, Dick opened his office in 1954 in New Hartford, first at 72 Genesee Street, and then relocated to 3½ Oxford Road where he cared for patients until his retirement.

On April 27, 1957, he married Emeena Therese Chanatry at Utica’s St. Basil Melkite Church. During their 55 years of marriage, the couple resided in New Hartford and more recently in Pittsford.

Dick was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church where he was a trustee and a member of the Parish Council. He also served on the Town of New Hartford Planning Board and on the board of the St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Foundation. He loved playing golf and was a member of the Yahanundasis Golf Club, where he was on the Board of Governors. He held offices with both the Dental Society of the State of New York and its Fifth District.

He was predeceased by his wife Terry, his son Dr. Richard G. Zogby Jr., his sister Antoinette Zogby Coleman, and his brother Fr. Edward G. Zogby, SJ.

Dick is survived by his children: Andrew Zogby Sr. (Denise) of Poway, CA, Mary Therese Novak (William) of Pittsford, and Elizabeth Zogby of Fairport; as well as his daughter-in-law Colleen Zogby (Ed Chase) of Manlius, his dear niece Judith Coleman Schmid (Ed) of New Hartford and her children Cole, Matthew, and Emma, and sister-in-law Florence Brown of Utica and brother-in-law George Chanatry (Cynthia) of Winter Park, FL.

He is also survived by his nine grandchildren: Catherine Zogby Boys (Cameron), Dr. Andrew Zogby Jr. (Brittany), Alexandra Novak, Claire Novak, Katherine Novak, Richard G. Zogby III, Garrett Zogby, Gregory Zogby, and Gabrielle Bennett Del Castillo (Carlos); as well as his four great-grandchildren—Silas, Barrett, Willow, and Mina.

Dick cherished the 15 wonderful years he had with his faithful canine companion, Lulu.

Calling hours are Sunday, Aug 10, 2025 from 3-5 at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. A Funeral Mass will take place on Monday, Aug 11, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 66 Oxford Road, New Hartford. A private burial will be for the family at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
