Obituary

Richard Brown Jr., 62, of Utica, passed away on September 8, 2026. He was born on January 20, 1964, in Utica, NY, the son of the late Richard Brown Sr. and Rosalie (Jiggets) Brown.

Richard was educated in the Utica Public School system. Richard was self-employed as a scrap collector and was a member of Metropolitan Church since 2006.

Richard had a love for football and was a devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Denver Broncos. He enjoyed watching movies, playing cards, and especially loved a good game of chess. Richard was known for having a sweet tooth and, most of all, for his love of the ladies. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, the things he enjoyed, and the many lives he touched.

He is survived by his children, Dontay Davis, Raheem Brown, Tiana Brown, Joshua Brown, Richard Brown III; grandchildren, Dawn Briggs, Summer Briggs, Grayson Briggs, Bella Brown, Trinity Brown, Kacey Brown, Mason Brown, and Scarlet Brown; sisters, Rosa Brown, Wilhelmina Brown, and Maxine Kemp; special friends, Caroline Thomas, Ketra Grant, Jimmy Nelson, Darren Mason, and David Calhoun; as well as many nieces, nephews, godchildren, extended family members and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Richard Brown Sr.; his mother, Rosalie Brown; and his brother, Willie Otis.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the San Francisco 49ers and Jerry Rice.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 15, 2026, from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court Street, Utica, NY. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Rev. Jimmy Jackson.
