Our mom Patti Randall: A beautiful lady who loved life and everyone in it, passed away July 29, 2023.

There was no hug like a Patti hug us, close friends, neighbors, and sometimes the mailman! Today in heaven there will be a line of friends and family just waiting for a hug. And there are many left here who will dearly miss being greeted like the only and best person on earth with an exclamation of their name followed by a genuine Patti Randall hug.

Mom’s life was (a testament to hope and love) from the day she was born 3/20/1939-in a toilet bowl. She always said, “good thing it had been cleaned that morning.” From the stories she and others told, she was a red-headed firecracker. Dancing was her thing, and she could jitterbug with the best of them!

Patti started working at St E’s at the age of 15as a candy striper and moved to the newborn nursery a job she loved. Patti met the mighty Butch Randall at the Pin o Rama in 1962, and they married at St John the Evangelist in New Hartford a year later. She has two children, Kathleen (who was definitely her favorite) and John (who got way more recognition). During some recent hospital stays when they would run tests, her first words were my son is John Randall.. “do you know who he is?”

Mom was always our biggest fan, literally and figuratively. Whether it was, “Kath this is the best meatloaf you have ever made,” or “Are you picking me up for John’s basketball game?” Home and on the road she was always in the stands cheering the team on. After a victory her first question was “Where are we going to party!?” 2 Coors lights were her limit. Yup and she was Irish!

She was a long-time member of the New Hartford Fire Department Auxiliary.

Mom started driving school bus for New Hartford in 1975. She always said she had the best kids on her bus! 30 years later she retired so she could spend more time with her grandchildren and go on lunch dates with her girlfriends.

She leaves behind her husband of 60 years, Tom. Her baby brother Mike Hanson(Kathy)the two would travel the county looking for a good garage sale! Her daughter Kathleen and son-in-law Emilio Hallam, her son John and daughter-in-law Karen Randall, grandchildren Amanda Quinn Deep and Cal Thomas Randall.

Patti shared a special bond with Amanda. They spent a lot of alone time talking about life, and she was definitely her confidante. She and Cal had many adventures to “their” store Thrifty Shopper, and she made the best scrambled eggs-ones that no-one could replicate! Mom taught them from the time they were babies the importance of good manners and of unconditional “Gram” love.

She never turned down a trip to Bonomos for ice cream, nuts on the bottom, in the middle and on top it was the only way to have a peanut butter sundae!

Our mom treated our large crew of friends with love, kindness and laughter. It was impossible to feel uncomfortable around her.

Mom has a tight small circle of exceptional friends who brought joy and laughter to her life. She will be deeply missed by her friends.

Pam Winn who showed so much love and support over these past few months. Marie Trico who was her “I’ll be over in 20 minutes to pick you up we’re going to breakfast” date.

Dan Driemiller, she was his biggest fan. Kathi Scarafile who took many road trips with mom Elaine Polito, who shared a 50-year friendship, Pat Eshelman who she met while working at St Elizabeths their 2-hour phone calls would be filled with constant laughter and Elsie Fiore, who will be jostling to be first in line for that hug in Heaven. And countless others

Patti leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her special nieces Christine Mazza and Stacey Helmer who gave her much love and great conversations over the years. She was preceded by her sister Donna Louise and Beverly Jean

We personally don’t have enough words to thank our childhood friend Kris Richmond. She was always there for us and never missed an appointment with Mom. Our Graham Ave family, the Lupinos and Shahouds shared the kids growing up years through the grandchildren getting married years and will miss her as much as we will.

We give our heartfelt thanks to Linda Sears, Tori Dey and Kathy Howe, who was like a daughter…they were always busy! They all took wonderful care of Mom these past few months Thank you as well to Dr. Brehaut for giving our mom wonderful care and the nursing staff on the Allen Calder Wing

In keeping with moms wishes that we have heard for 20 years…absolutely no flowers! She wants balloons, laughter and a big party!

Calling hours will be Friday from 3-6 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A service will be held at 6 PM., with a big party to follow on Graham Ave

There will never be another human like her…she truly was our best friend.

I love you more…

The family respectfully requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the New Hartford Youth Basketball League, c/o Tim Welchons, 2 Imperial Drive, New Hartford, NY 13413 or the New Hartford Little League, PO Box 202, New Hartford, NY 13413.
