Patricia Markason, 94, formerly of Whitesboro, passed away on Monday, April 7, 2026, at Lutheran Care.

She was born on September 28, 1931, in Plattsburgh, NY, the daughter of the late William and Mabel (Seymour) Burke. She graduated from D’Youville Academy in Plattsburgh in 1948 and was employed with New York Telephone in Utica.

On September 13, 1952, Patricia went on a blind date where she met the love of her life, Joseph Markason. They were married on May 28, 1955, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Patricia had a deep faith and a strong belief in God, and at one time taught religious education at St. Ann’s Church in Whitesboro.

She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Church and the Utica Curling Club, and proudly served as president of the Glengarrys from 1978 to 1980.

Patricia is survived by her son, Robert Markason; her grandchildren, Joseph (Kimberly), Alexandra (Samir) Regina, and Zachary; her three great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Melina, and Rocco and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph; her daughter-in-law, Lorrie Arcuri Markason; and her siblings, Elizabeth, Eleanor, and John.

Patricia often reminded her family to, “Take pride in yourself and always try to do a little more than what is expected of you.” These were words her son, Robert, lived by.

The funeral will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford.
