In Memory of Patricia J. Cuda

Obituary

Patricia J. Cuda, 89, of Deerfield, NY, passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital on April 24, 2025.

She was born on October 21, 1935, in Shaftsbury, Vermont, to the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Thompson) Cunningham. Patricia graduated from Franklin Academy in Malone, NY and later attended Marcy State Hospital School of Nursing in Marcy, NY.

She married Kenneth Cuda on July 2, 1955, in Utica, NY. They moved to Deerfield, NY, in 1962 and resided at the same home for 58 years where they raised their family. She was a stay at home mom who went on to become the school nurse at Deerfield Elementary School, where she thoroughly enjoyed her camaraderie with students and staff.

Patricia was the beloved matriarch of her family and enjoyed sharing her time at their summer cottage in Cape Vincent and their winter escapes on Siesta Key and Marco Island, Florida. She loved cooking for her family and sharing with the next generation “some” of the secrets of her recipes. She had a true love for animals.

She was a devoted member of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in North Utica.

Patricia is survived by her children, Kenneth (Renee) Cuda II, Michael (Wendy) Cuda, and Lisa (Richard) Jacobson; 8 grandchildren, Renee (Colin) Kujawski, Kenneth (Samantha) Cuda III, Joanne (Matt) Getman, Kevin Shoemaker, Angela (Bobby) Gigliotti, Marissa (David) Fitzpatrick, Kaleigh Jacobson and Mitchell Jacobson; 8 great grandchildren; her sister Elizabeth (Robert) Baker and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth Cuda; son, Jeffrey D. Cuda; parents, Patrick and Elizabeth (Thompson) Cunningham; siblings, George Cunningham, Henry Cunningham and Julia Sainz.

Calling hours are Wednesday, April 30th, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon. Entombment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery at Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
