Patricia Fox Doughty, age 74, of New Hartford, NY, died at home on March 12, 2024.

She was born on August 11, 1949 in Utica, NY, the daughter of Frederick and Natalie (Speitel) Fox. She was a graduate of Whitesboro High School in 1967 and Utica College, where she received her BS and MS degrees in Education.

She worked at Whitesboro High School for 34 years, where she taught history.

She was a member of American Legion Post 1376 in New Hartford, and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Utica, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Besides her teaching passion, Patti, as she was known, cherished time with friends and family. She enjoyed cooking, music, and hosting holiday celebrations. She welcomed friends for many impromptu gatherings which, by virtue of Patti’s creativity, sometimes became annual events.

She enjoyed vacation travel throughout life and spent a sabbatical in England. She was especially fond of the Caribbean, where she became a certified scuba diver.

As a lifelong student of American and world history, she enjoyed following and discussing current events and politics.

She enjoyed a special relationship with a niece, Jamie Fox Lawson (Jay) of Whitesboro, and two of her great-nieces, Kaycie and Sydney, to whom she was like a grandmother. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, Frederick Timothy Fox of Forestport and Karl Thomas Fox of Old Forge.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 13 at noon, at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd. New Hartford.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to American Legion Post 1376 in New Hartford.
