Obituary

Nicole D. Shaffer, age 37, of Utica, passed away due to medical complications on February 25, 2023 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Nicole was born in Utica, NY, on October 30, 1985, the daughter of Dawn Marchitelli Toczala and John P. Shaffer. She grew up in Southern New Hampshire, and attended Londonderry High School. Nicole worked as a CNA for various different agencies, including the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, the Sitrin Home in Clinton, Comfort Care Home Care in Austin, Texas.

She enjoyed making others laugh, traveling internationally with her family, loved the Carribean, and was always the life of the party.

Nicole is survived by her daughter, Alana Marie, of Round Rock, Texas; parents, Dawn and Dan Toczala; her sister Dominica Rose Toczala of Round Rock, Texas; brother Marc Richard Toczala of Austin, Texas; grandparents, Sylvia Marchitelli and Dennis and Helene Toczala and cousins Marlissa (Marley) Marchitelli and Dominic Marchitelli.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Richard N. Marchitelli.

In keeping with Nicole’s wishes, funeral services were held privately and at the convenience of the family.

In memory of Nicole, donations may be made to Anita’s Steven-Swans Humane Society.
