Nadezhda Brutskaya, 84, of Utica, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Nadezhda was born in Belarus on February 16, 1940. She was married to Pavel Brutsky on Nov. 27, 1960, a blessed union full of love and mutual adoration that lasted for 63 years. Nadezhda leaves behind her grieving husband Pavel.

In June of 1989 the entire family immigrated to the United States. Nadezhda enjoyed a new life and the religious freedom this country offered. She was a member of the Slavic Pentecostal Church and took church attendance very seriously. Singing in the church choir, which she had done for some 30 years, brought her much joy.

Nadezhda was a wonderful and caring mother to her 10 surviving children and their families: son Andrei and his wife Liuba, son Pavel and his wife Mira, son Konstantin and his wife Inna, daughter Svetlana and her husband Vladimir Paniuska, daughter Maria and her husband Sergey Mialik, daughter Valentina, daughter Galina and her husband Pavel Brutsky, son Nikolay, daughter Natalya and her husband Victor Myalik and daughter Tatyana Gorbachevskaya. Nadezhda will also be remembered by her 40 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include her brother Nikolay (Vera) Brutsky, her sister Nina Rulinsky, and many nieces and nephews. Nadezhda was preceded by two sisters and a brother.

The family is grateful for the prayers and support of the congregation of the Slavic Pentecostal Church with special thanks to Pastor Vasily Zhushma for his support.

A funeral service will be held on May 14th, at Slavic Pentecostal Church, at 7pm. Calling hours will be from 6pm to 7pm prior to the service. The burial will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery on May 15th at 10am. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, Utica.
