Obituary

Mary Louise Capecelatro, 88, of Utica, died November 9, 2018 at Sitrin Healthcare.

She was born April 30, 1930 in Utica daughter of the late James V. Gasbar and Elizabeth Scala Gasbar Lando. She graduated from Utica Free Academy and attended Syracuse University where she received a three year certification in Chemistry.

Mary Lou married Salvador J. Capecelatro, Jr. on June 16, 1951. He died in 1991.

She was a member of the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, the Catholic Women’s Club, and a Board Member of the Broadway Theater League. She was an avid skier belonging to several ski clubs as well as an accomplished bridge player and she enjoyed travelling. She spent many wonderful summers at the family camp on Fourth Lake in Eagle Bay, NY

Mary Lou is survived by her children Martha Wallace, Sarah Settles, S.J. Capecelatro, III, James Capecelatro, Edith Dangler, Elizabeth Byrne, John Capecelatro, Mary Louise Delmarsh, Matthew Capecelatro and their spouses; 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; one sister Barbara Stead and five nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Laura Capecelatro and her sister Rosemary Cosco.

The family extends their sincere thanks to the several caregivers who cared for Mary Lou in recent years.

A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
