Obituary

Mary A. Pugh, 90, of New Hartford, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare with her loving family by her side.

She was born on June 6, 1932, in New Hartford, a daughter of the late Angelo and Grace Maiurano Spinella and graduated from New Hartford High School. On April 5, 1969, she was united in marriage with J. Ralph Pugh in New Hartford, a devoted union until his passing on June 19, 1992. She was a waitress with various local restaurants for many years, most recently with Big Al’s in New Hartford.

Mary loved spending time with her family and received much enjoyment from tending to her gardens.

She is survived by her children, John Hertline and his wife, Judith of Westmoreland, Robert Hertline and his wife, Beverly of Whitesboro, Christine Steele and her husband, Gary of New Hartford and James Pugh and wife Melissa of Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Rachel Hertline and Adam Roux, Jason Hertline and wife Kim, Lydia Hersman and husband, Andrew and Joshua Hertline and Kayla Deloatch, Joseph Hertline and wife, Karen, Tracy Steele, Michael Steele and fiancée, Cynthia Harder, Richard Steele and Suzanne Giordano and Jenna Pugh; great-grandchildren, Jack, Luke, Steven, Charlotte, Hudson, Harper, Benjamin, Connor and Theodore; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Dominick, Joseph, John, Angelo, Anthony and George; sisters, Nancy, Grace and Rose.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff at Sitrin Rehabilitation Center and Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare for all the care and compassion given to Mary.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
