Margaret Knight Arthur, 102, of Utica, died May 12, 2018 at Waterville Residential Care.

She was born September 7, 1915 in Utica, daughter of the late Foster James and Alice Houck Knight. She was educated in Utica Schools.

Margaret married Charles W. Arthur, Sr., on August 12, 1940 in Utica.

She was, in her early years, a hairdresser for Elite Beauty Salon, a housewife and one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was a member of the Riverside Congregation in Utica. She was baptized along with her son Charles in June of 1952.

She was a great cook, and avid reader and teacher of the Bible and a zealous preacher of the good news.

Margaret is survived by her daughter Suzan and husband Mark Tillson of Utica, her son Mark Arthur and wife Johana of Utica; her daughter-in-law Julia Arthur of Syracuse. She also leaves her grandchildren, Tammy Mazzatti and husband Gregory of Saratoga Springs, Mark Tillson, Jr. of Utica, Jamie Tillson of Whitesboro, Mark Jason Arthur and wife Shannon, of FL, Cameron Arthur of FL, Melody McCandless and husband Scott of Syracuse, Manuel Arthur of Danbury, CT, Joshua Arthur and wife Melissa of MD; great-grandchildren, Gregory Markus Mazzatti of Saratoga Springs, Marissa Spicer of Syracuse, Chase Arthur of FL, Carina McCandless of Syracuse, Caleb McCandless of Syracuse; great-great grandson Leo Ray Arthur; her sister Esther Mitchell of NC and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, her sons Charles, Jr. and Reed; her brothers Robert, Thomas, Horace and Foster and her sister Priscilla.

The family wishes to thank every staff member at the Waterville Residential Care Center who cared and loved her in such a wonderful way, and to all of her spiritual brothers and sisters.

Her funeral will be May 26, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the Riverside Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses Kingdom Hall, 585 Trenton Road, Utica. with Gregory Mazzatti, Jr., Officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Crown Hill Memorial Park. There are no calling hours.

In memory of Margaret, contributions may be made to the Riverside Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
