Kevin William Brady Sr, New Hartford, NY August 16, 1949- September 7, 2023- 74yrs.

Kevin W. Brady Sr., a longtime resident of New Hartford, NY passed away on September 7, 2023, peacefully with his family by his side at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center.

Kevin was born on August 16, 1949 of the late William B. Brady (Clinton) & Elaine K. Cheynne (Utica) as an only child. He was a graduate of Notre Dame High School and obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering from Clarkson University, where he also enjoyed playing Division 1 lacrosse for the Golden Knights.

On September 21, 1974 he married the love of his life Peggy (Margaret Brady) and started their family. They moved to Village of New Hartford shortly after, where they raised their 3 children, Kevin Jr (Scooter), Kelly, & Scott. Kevin and his wife became active in the New Hartford Fire Department and enjoyed cooking for their events and playing pitcher on the slow pitch softball team. In his career, Kevin worked for Munson Machinery as an industrial engineer and traveled all over the country working with large companies like Nabisco & STX Lacrosse to improve and fix assembly line machinery. Eventually, he wanted to be closer to home with his growing family and worked for Wonder Bread/ Hostess, Price Chopper and eventually owned his own bread route with Arnold/Thomas/ Entenmanns until he retired.

Kevin loved his family more than words can describe. He was passionately involved in his kids’ lives and sports. He coached their AYSO Soccer Teams from early years, as well as their softball teams, & even traveled with the with The New Hartford Marching Band to all the competitions throughout the 90’s when the kids performed. Kevin NEVER missed a game or event as far as any of us can remember all the way through college. He enjoyed sports so much that he began to referee in Section 3 for Girls Basketball, Volleyball, & Softball and did so from the early 1990’s up until 2022. He enjoyed watching Clarkson hockey games, visiting his kids in Ithaca to watch basketball games, tailgate at football games, wrestling, hockey and his grandkids games. He was so proud of all of them and how wonderfully unique they all are.

Kevin always seemed to find peace by a campfire and being in the outdoors. He and Peggy traveled with their kids up and down the east coast various campgrounds most of their lives, traveling throughout the Adirondacks from Maine down the East Coast, to Virginia Beach. In retirement they purchased an RV and went camping often, most times, kids, and grandkids in tow. This was his happy place for sure.

Kevin was a devoted, protective, loving husband. He was a loving, supportive and amazing father; grandfather. He was a favorite cousin, as well as uncle and godfather to his nieces and nephews. His friendly disposition, compassion, humor, love and gentle presence were known and felt by all whom came into contact with him. He shall be eternally missed, but his spirit lives on.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years Margaret (Peggy) Brady, his oldest son Kevin Jr (Scooter), his wife Alicia & their daughter Paige of Ithaca, NY; His daughter Kelly, her husband Josh Chase & their two sons Brady & Colin of Ithaca, NY & his youngest son Scott of New Hartford, NY. He is also survived by many relatives, cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom he loved so much.

Kevin did not want any services when he passed. He wanted those who knew him to simply to be present, and find
happiness in the small moments with loved ones. He didn’t like conflict and encouraged us to communicate, love and hug each other more & to forgive and move forward. Life is too short, so he wanted us all to remember him and the good times fondly, and to be happy & appreciate the simplicity of life and all that surrounds us.
