Obituary

Katherine “Katie Pierce” Valentin, 41, of Utica, passed away peacefully, on November 11, 2023, at the Wynn Hospital, surrounded by her beloved family.

She was born October 1, 1982, in Weymouth, MA, daughter of Alan and Diane Kemski Pierce. She graduated from Notre Dame High School, Utica, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Navy Jr. ROTC, Dean College, Franklin, MA and Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, FL. Katie made many long-lasting friendships from her school, college days and from Showstoppers.

Over time Katie lived in Charlotte, NC, Okinawa, Japan and Beaufort, SC, where she made many lifelong friends while working jobs in all of those locations.

She loved dancing and was a member of the Showstoppers, she was also an avid reader.

Katie is survived by her daughter, the light of her life, Charlotte, her mother Diane Pierce of Utica, her father Alan Pierce and his wife Linda of N. Syracuse; her brothers Mark Pierce (Jessica Revill) of Chicago, IL, and Scott Pierce (Melissa Jones) of Glenwood Springs, CO; her stepsister Alicia Jones of N. Syracuse and also Charlotte’s father Michael Day of Utica.

The family wishes to thank the staff of 3 East ICU at Wynn Hospital for all of their compassion and care of Katie.

The family takes comfort in Katie’s donation of her kidneys.

Calling hours are on Wednesday from 3-5 PM at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. A funeral service will follow at 5 PM.
