Joseph H. Stevens, 73, of North Utica, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 26, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with his daughter and son-in-law Jody and Douglas Shingler, his brother Phil Stevens, and his niece Ella Feisthamel by his side.

He was born on Sept 14, 1947 in Norwich, NY, son of the late Eugene W. and Ella L. (Diamond) Stevens. He attended Utica schools. On October 26, 1968, he was united in marriage to Patricia A. (Feisthamel) Stevens.

He is survived by his four daughters and one son, Jody (Douglas) Shingler, Joseph (Hellen) Stevens, Tabatha Parker, Claudette Stevens, and Patricia Stevens. He is also survived by two sisters, Eva Feisthamel and Rita Stevens, and two brothers, Phil Stevens and Sam (Mary) Stevens; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; his little helper Mia, who he loved spending time and watching TV with; and his friend, Margaret Olin. He thought the world of Mia, Izzy, Zoey, and Lily. He was predeceased by a son, James; two daughters, Phyllis and Arlene Stevens; a sister-in-law, Norma Stevens; and a very special brother-in-law, George Feisthamel.

The family wishes to gratefully acknowledge Jody Shingler, not only as his daughter, but as his home health aide, for the care that she provided for her father during his illness, and for living with him to care for him; and his other aide, Samantha Stevens, his granddaughter, who was always there to care for him through his illness.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 31, from 4-7 pm at the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St, Utica. His funeral service will be Thursday, April 1, at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Due to the pandemic, face masks, social distancing, and covid tracing will be required.
