Joseph D. DeVoy, 60, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at his home.

He was born on May 22, 1965, in New Hartford, the son of the late William Edwin “Doc” DeVoy and Marilyn (Capri) DeVoy. Joe was educated locally and proudly served in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge. For more than 20 years, he worked as a dedicated security officer with L.B. Security in Utica.

Joey had a deep love of history and enjoyed collecting stamps and coins. He was a true social butterfly who looked forward to meeting new people and could effortlessly spark a conversation with anyone he encountered. One of his greatest joys was making time for his family, especially his grand babies and all the “littles” in the family.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Samantha Maki, and her husband, Kyle, of North Carolina; and his treasured grandchildren, Zoey, Camille, and Logan. He also leaves behind several loving siblings, along with many nieces and nephews, whom cherished him.

From Samantha to her father T.L.A Dad - True Love Always!

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court St., Utica, NY.

In memory of Joe, please consider a donation to the Veterans Suicide Prevention programs.
