Obituary

John (Jack) B. Deveans, 88, of Utica, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2024, with his family by his side at Wynn Hospital.

He was born on December 8, 1935, in Utica, a son of the late John M. and Bertha L. (Norwood) Deveans. Jack was a graduate of UFA class of 1953. On July 22, 1961, Jack was united in marriage to Irene Costello celebrating 53 years together until her passing in 2014. Jack took much pride in his work and was truly a jack of all trades doing various jobs through out his career. He was last employed for Custom Klean Corporation for many years until his retirement.

Jack was a member of the Morning Star Methodist Church and was a member of the Utica Masonic Lodge #47. He was also a member of the NRA. Jack enjoyed collecting military
memorabilia as well as restoring antiques as a hobby.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Williams (Scott Cairo) of Utica; a son, John Deveans and his wife, Lori of Ilion; grandchildren, Kimberlin Deveans of Ilion and Michael Deveans (Shelbie McLean) of Frankfort; along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dog, Diamond and cat Tux. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Burkhart and his wife, Elsie along with many brother and sister-in-laws and friends.

The funeral will be held March 15, at 5:00 pm followed by a Masonic Memorial Service at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. Calling hours will be from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Crown Hill Memorial Park.
