Joan Vine, 84, passed away at home on November 15, 2021 after a brief illness. With the help of Hospice, her last wish was granted and she was able to be home surrounded by her loving family. She is now reunited with her daughter, Jacqueline, who was the love of her life.

She was born in Utica on October 17, 1937, the daughter of the late David and Mary (Mulvihill) Williams. On September 19, 1980 she was united in marriage to Charles “Jake” Vine.

Joan was a hard working woman who was always on the go and never sat down. She worked for Acme Markets, San Bros. Meat Packing, P&C and cleaned houses for many people.

She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church and its Women’s Club. She was a true Christian and found peace and joy in worship. Her unwavering love for the Lord and the Blessed Mother carried her through her darkest days. She humbly recited the Rosary daily and prayed for everyone.

Joan was a very thoughtful, caring woman. She loved cooking and baking. She could never refuse helping at a bake sale. Some of her specialties are her zucchini bread and apple crunch. She loved holding garage sales and also attending them. She was always in search of a “good deal”. She loved taking pictures of her family and friends and displaying them proudly on her refrigerator.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Charles Vine, her son-in-law Frank Cosamano, Jr., her grandchildren and their spouses, James and Jennifer Cosamano, Jason and Rachel Cosamano, Frank and Kari Cosamano; her siblings Dick (Janice) Williams, James (Mary) Williams, Donald (Judy) Williams, Suzanne Kratzenberg and Ann Rose; Great Grandchildren Caleb and Isabella Cosamano, Hannah and Jaida Demma; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and special nieces, Kim Kratzenberg, Jaclyn Rose, Kim Grower and Lori Cozza. She also leaves behind a very special friend Connie Borek. Joan was predeceased by her beloved daughter Jacqueline Cosamano; her sisters and brothers-in-law Mary Ellen (Albert) LaGray, Sara (Daniel) Cozza; brother-in-law Robert Kratzenberg, infant brother David, nephew Paul Cozza, in-laws Edward and Nancy Vine and her beloved canine companions Cuddles and Teddy.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no public calling hours. Interment will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Hospice and Palliative Care. Without the help, caring, understanding and compassion of Hospice it would have been almost impossible to make Joan’s last wish come true and for that the family is forever grateful to the Angels at Hospice.

Arrangements are with Freidel, Williams & Edmunds funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
