Jeanne Jones passed from this life to the next on May 21, 2022.

Born in Amsterdam, NY, on March 10, 1926, to Henry M. and Janet Tabor Mac Naughton, she moved with her family to Utica in 1933. She was educated in local schools, graduating from UFA in 1943. In 1945 she married her high school friend, Robert A. Jones, who was then serving in the USNavy. In 1948 they moved with their growing family to New Hartford, where they have lived ever since.

First in her life were her husband and their four children. She was happiest at family gatherings and was always pleased to see grandchildren and great-grands enjoying each other’s company and creating occasions to get together.
She loved her church and served over many years there as elder, deacon, church school teacher, choir, women’s group, and sewing group member. Her church family was very near and dear to her.

Also important in the family was their love of music. Everyone played piano and other instruments and enjoyed singing together. Jeanne was a long time member of the B# club, was president on two occasions and was involved in various committees. For many years she taught piano to young students in her home.
With her husband she was active in the Welsh community, was president of the St. David’s Society and accompanist for the St. David’s Welsh Choir and Gymanfaoedd Ganu (hymn sings).

Survivors are her ever loving husband of 77 “wonderful years,” her children: David Jones (Susan) VA; Ellen Hargrave (Steven), NC; Karen May (David), ME; and Elizabeth Burns (Iain), VA. Grandchildren: Robert Jones (Lisa), Evan Jones (Randi), Leslie Hargrave (Dennis Pence), James Hargrave (Ashley Crutchfield), Andy Hargrave, Sarah Douglas (Ben), and Greg May (Elizabeth Dorn); also ten great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves her niece and nephew, Nancy Murren and Stephen Jones who live in California. Besides her parents and in-laws, she was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ellen Dewine, nephew Stephen Dewine, brother-in-law Dewi Jones, and his wife Hilda and sister-in-law Gwladys Jones.

A memorial service will be held at the New Hartford Presbyterian Church on Thursday, May 26, at 11AM. There are no calling hours, the family will greet friends following the service. Those who would like to make a contribution in memory of Jeanne are asked to consider the church’s Music Fund. Interment will be in at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are n the care of Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford.
