Janice M. Nappi of Utica and Old Forge, NY, daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Margott) Tofani, left this life on January 12, 2021 at Abraham House of Rome, after a valiant effort to win a battle with cancer. Janice was born December 12, 1946 in Utica, attended and graduated from Whitesboro Central School, the class of 1964. Janice was a most talented hair stylist and makeup artist, though her primary career began at the New York Telephone Company, through the transition to NYNEX, ultimately retiring from Verizon.
A beautiful woman always, Janice appreciated the simple things in life. Though she was drawn to travel extensively, her home, wherever that would be, was her greatest joy, as long as her family was by her side. She loved selflessly to those who came into her sphere.

Those left to mourn include her sons, Dale Lockwood, Jr. of Old Forge and Donato “Danny” (Leslie) Nappi, Jr. of Utica, her brother, Dennis Tofani and his son Nicholas of Old Forge and his daughter Dana Tofani Guertin (Pete) of NC; cherished grandchildren Kandace Lockwood (Alexander Woodward) of Clinton, Koren Lockwood (Elan Spreiser) of Scottsdale, AZ, Dale Lockwood III (Elizabeth) of New Hartford, Drew Lockwood of Sauquoit, Isabella and Harper Nappi of Utica, great-granddaughter Luna Ann Lockwood and great-grandson Judah George Spreiser, beloved godson William Colon, Jr. of AZ, aunts Margaret LaDuc of Whitesboro and Eleanor Borello of Utica, uncle Richard Tofani of AL, long-time friends Gail (Seminaro) and Fred Williamson of Rome, NY, special angel Nikki Friedlander of AZ, numerous cousins, friends and lastly, former husband and trusted confidant, Dale Lockwood, Sr. (John Romanow), former husband Donato “Danny” Nappi,Sr., all of Utica, and a host of former in-laws in the Lockwood and Nappi families.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the tireless caregivers at Sitrin Rehabilitation Health and Abraham House of Rome, whose compassion made this journey much less difficult. Memorial remembrances to these outstanding organizations may be offered in her name.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 Noon from The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, 2222 Genesee Street, Utica with Rev. Fr. Mark Kaminski officiating. Face masks are required as well as social distancing. Please arrive early to allow time for required contact tracing registration.

Fly high beautiful one... In our hearts forever!
