Janice M. DeStefano, 71, of Clinton, NY, formerly of New Hartford, NY, passed away on May 31, 2024 surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her home.

She was born on February 2, 1953, in Utica, NY, at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital, daughter of Mario and Jane (Mazzenga) DeStefano. Janice graduated from New Hartford High School and went on to attend MVCC.

Janice worked for NY Telephone company for 8 years, and was the secretary for Madeline Distributing and Vending. She was very proud of her real estate investments that she bought and renovated over the years.

As a child Janice was a member of St. Thomas Church in New Hartford, she later went on to attend St. Mary’s Church in Clinton.

Janice loved drawing, listening to music, taking walks at the New Hartford town park, family vacations, and going for long rides in her car. Everyone that knew Janice knew she had a great style and sense of fashion. Her true passion was helping people, she was always offering her genuine support and guidance.

She is survived by her daughter Ashley Kroll; significant other of 32 years and Ashley’s father, Paul Kroll; brother Louis DeStefano and sister-in-law Christine DeStefano; nieces Kendra DeStefano and Katelyn DeStefano; many beloved immediate and extended family members, and close friends; as well as Janice’s fur babies, cats Missy and NeKo.

She was predeceased by her parents, Mario DeStefano and Jane (Mazzenga) DeStefano; paternal grandparents John and Ella DeStefano; maternal grandparents Luigi and Isabelle Mazzenga; and her lifelong friend and God Father to her daughter Ashley, Charles Hof.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice and all the nurses that helped take care of Janice throughout her journey.
