Janice Elizabeth Lynskey Jamrosz, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and daughter, passed away on August 5th, 2025, at the age of 64. Born on January 30, 1961, in Manassas, Virginia, Janice was named after her cousin Janice Pratt Knickerbocker.
She graduated with a Regents diploma from Holland Patent High School in 1979, where she was voted “Most Athletic.” Janice excelled in sports and cherished her close-knit group of friends. She was especially proud of her Varsity Softball team’s Section III Championship and was known for her fierce defensive skills as a field hockey center halfback. She also shined in volleyball, basketball and any competitive event.
Janice married Stephen Jamrosz on November 3, 1986, in New York Mills. They moved to Liverpool in 1992 and built a life filled with love and family. Janice was predeceased by Stephen on October 13, 2005.
In the years that followed, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children and grandchildren. Janice traveled often between her apartment with Nick and Heidi in Liverpool, NY, Jessica’s home in Texas and Michael in Florida. She recently helped move her son Michael to be closer with his sister Jessica in Texas, all while sharing caregiving for her parents, Carol and William Lynskey. Janice was also predeceased by her nephews Connor Lynskey and Gaston Henry Lynskey.
The grandkids all looked up to Grandma Janice who was their biggest cheerleader and support system. She was always on the go, shaping their lives, supporting their sports ambitions and attending church on Sunday. She taught them how to be strong, how to laugh even when things were hard, and how to love with their whole hearts - making every moment feel special. They will miss her stories, her energy, her support and her smile—but will carry her love and wonderful memories with them forever.
Janice was kind to everyone and passionate about everything. Always smiling, always maneuvering, often running on empty – just a few quick hours on the couch and back at it again. When in doubt, she’d order pizza and wings - extra hot, extra blue cheese, and celery. Her boundless energy, fierce love, and generous heart will live on in all who knew her. Our lives will never be the same, the void cannot be filled, but collectively we will carry on Janice’s spirit of determination and boundless love for her children, grandchildren, siblings and Mom and Dad.
Survivors include her two sons, Nicholas (Heidi) Jamrosz, Michael Jamrosz, and daughter Jessica (Jamie) Scott; grandchildren Stephen and Lucy (Nick/Heidi), Joseph, Jaslynn, Jeremiah and Jordan (Jessica/Jamie); parents William Charles and Carol Pratt Lynskey; brothers Charles (Deborah) Lynskey, Michael (Donna) Lynskey, Don (Bruce) Lynskey and sister Theresa Carol Lynskey; and her nieces and nephews: Michael (Raveena) Lynskey, Meghan Lynskey, Gregory Lynskey, Kayla (Nate) Leska, great niece/nephew Clare and Callan (Kayla/Nate), and Max Lynskey. Also surviving are Stephen’s sister Peggy (Tom) Ostrander, their children/grandchildren; his brother Dave Jamrosz, his son Steve (Michele) Jamrosz, grandson Logan (Steve/Michele), other relatives and many dear friends.
Calling hours will be from 4pm to 6pm on Monday, Aug 11th, 2025, at Friedel, Williams and Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road, New Hartford. Private burial services will be held in Mt Olivet Cemetery, 70 Wood Road, Whitesboro.
