Obituary

Janet M. Geary, 78, of Foley, AL, passed away on October 21, 2025, at Wynn Hospital. She was born on March 4, 1947, in Wheatland, WY, the daughter of Russell Neff and Martha (Martell) Leyerle.

Janet worked for many years at Household Finance as a bookkeeper while living in Colorado Springs. She later found a love for painting, which began as a hobby but grew into a lifelong passion. After moving to Foley, she opened Jan’s Fine Art, a business that thrived for over 30 years.

Janet was a Cub Scout leader when her son Wade was a boy. She enjoyed old country and Christian country music, loved to dance at home, read art magazines, and work on word searches. She especially loved shrimp but was known for being very particular about it since living near water most of her life! 

She is survived by her son, Wade Geary, and his wife Patricia (Herman) Geary; two grandchildren, Jason and Jenni; seven great-grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and her students that became very good friends at “Thursday Art Group”, Penny, Halek, Tony and Butch. 

She was predeceased by her parents and her brother, Darrell Neff.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to Melise, Patricia’s sister, for all her love, support, and help.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
