Resided in New Hartford, NY
Jane Gale, beloved resident of the Presbyterian Home in New Hartford, NY, passed away on August 14, 2023, at the age of 88. Jane lived a remarkable life filled with a deep love of all animals, an appreciation of music and a creator of beautiful gardens enhancing the beauty of the world around her. Her legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
Jane was born in 1934, to Dr. J Berkley and Isabelle Gordon in Monmoth, NJ where she grew up with her older brother Richard. She received a MA in Teaching from Goucher College.
Jane dedicated her teaching career to making a difference in the lives of children at Myles Elementary School in New Hartford. Jane's kind-heartedness and empathetic nature earned her the admiration and respect of the entire school community.
Jane resided with her late husband, Dr. Earl Gale in New Hartford and Deansboro, NY before moving to Preswick Glen for the latter part of her life. There she enjoyed gardening, participating in group exercise classes, and was an active contributor to the “Preswick Voice” community paper. After suffering a stroke on her 88th birthday, Jane moved to the Presbyterian Home where she developed bonds with the staff and fellow residents, creating a warm and welcoming community.
Jane is survived by her daughters, Jennifer of Manlius, NY and Melissa of Oakton, VA and her 5 grandchildren Alice, Elizabeth, Stephen, Nathaniel and Deborah who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. Jane adored her three “great grandchildren” Sunny, Bagheera and Laika (who are 2 naughty black cats, and a rescue dog, respectively!)
Jane was preceded in death by her brother Richard, husband Earl and daughter Priscilla.
Jane will be dearly missed and fondly remembered as an exceptional woman who left an indelible mark on the lives she touched. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love will forever serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.
