Jane Costello Enzien, 82, of New Hartford, NY, died peacefully on January 12th, 2023 after a long illness. She was born on March 25, 1940 in Utica, NY, as the third of ten children to John (Jack) Costello and Mary Beatrice (O'Brien) Costello of Clinton, NY.

She was raised in Clinton,NY. She graduated from Clinton High School and attend Vermont College. She married Ernest Enzien MD in 1964 in Clinton, NY. She spent most of her life as a resident of New Hartford, NY and the last decade as a resident of the Preswick Glen community. She was a member of St. John's the Evangelist church in New Hartford and the Yahnundasis Golf Club for 50 years.

Jane was involved in many community activities, garden clubs and book clubs. She was very athletic and very competitive. She loved to golf, and loved to play tennis, mahjong and dominoes. She was addicted to bridge, playing right up until the end of her life. Jane will be remembered for her infectiously positive personality. She was an amazing wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, blessed sister, adored aunt, and a kind friend to numerous people.

She is survived by her sons, Erik Enzien of Missoula, MT, and Ernest Enzien MD and his wife Kirsten Jacobson MD of Saugerties, NY; her son-in-law Sean Bain of Glens Falls, NY; and her three grandchildren, Kathleen and Nicholas Bain, and Annika Enzien. She is also survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Mike Phillips of Clinton, NY, Helen and Mike Evans of Vero Beach, FL, Debbie and Greg Batt of Utica, NY, and her brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Ann Costello of Vero Beach, FL, and James and Lucille Costello of New Hartford, NY. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Ernest Enzien MD, her daughter Alison Bain; and her sisters Margaret Ryan, Ann (Sissy) Pine, Sheila Costello and Cherry Travers.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 17, at 11:00 am at St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in the spring in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Clinton. Calling hours will be on Monday, January 16, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
