Henry R. Griffiths, 94, longtime resident of Utica, passed away peacefully June 22, 2021, at the Presbyterian Home.

He was born October 21, 1926, in New York Mills, son of the late William and Edith McCorduck Griffiths, and graduated from New York Mills Schools. He served in the US Navy as a Machinist Mate during World War II (1944-46) on the USS Prometheus in the Pacific Theater.

Henry married Flora Pryborowski June 10, 1950, in Holy Trinity Church, Utica. The couple resided in Hawkinsville for over 30 years. Flora died February 16, 2003.

He was a tool and die maker employed with Indium Corporation for 61 years before retiring in 2017. While at Indium, a piece of machinery that he assisted in manufacturing went to the moon.

He was a former member of the New York Mills Fire Department and the Masons. In his earlier years he was active in the PTA at his children’s elementary school.

He is survived by his son David Griffiths and spouse Debe of Utica, and a daughter Susan Fucci and spouse Frank of Pembroke, NH; his grandchildren, Mark Fucci, Madelynn Griffiths, and Johanna Courtemanche; his great-grandsons, Seamus and Declan Fucci; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Clara, Frederick (Bingo), Helen, Tom, and William (Bill).

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff of Pounder Hall in Oriskany for the enjoyable years Henry resided there, as well as the nursing staff at Presbyterian Home for his recent care.

Calling hours are on Sunday from 2-4 at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 1123 Court @ York Streets, Utica. A funeral service will follow at 4 PM.
