Gladys Hopkins Currier, age 92, of Clayville, NY passed away on May 9, 2025, at the Foltsbrook Care Center in Herkimer NY.

She was born on April 27, 1933, in Queens, NY, daughter of Evan and Sarah Jane Jones Hopkins. She was raised in Utica, NY and graduated from Utica Free Academy in 1951. From there she worked as a telephone operator at the New York Telephone Company for 20 years.

On October 16, 1954, Gladys married Clarence James (Chub) Currier at St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Winfield NY. This was a loving union that lasted 38 years. She was a past member of the Cedar Lake Club and was a member of the Cedar Lake Cemetery Association.

Gladys always loved and cherished her time spent with family and her many friends. Throughout the years she also enjoyed to be outside taking care of her lawn and flowers, playing pitch, SU basketball games, dancing, and sitting on her front porch visiting with family, friends and neighbors that would stop by.

She is survived by her children, Donna (Robert) Imobersteg Jr of New Hartford NY and Craig (Joanna) Currier of Northport NY. Her grandchildren, Robert Imobersteg III and Michael Imobersteg, Ryan Currier, Gavin Currier, & Riley Currier, and one great grandchild Robert Imobersteg IV; a sister-in-law Marion Dugan and brother-in-law Paul Currier, and many nieces, nephews, and close friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence who died in 1993, her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Frank & Vivian Currier, Mildred Currier, Lawrence Dugan, Charles and Lillian Treen, and Dorothy Currier, her parents Evan and Sarah Jane Hopkins, and father-in-law and mother-in-law Clarence L. and Rose Currier.

The family wishes to acknowledge the wonderful care she received while she was in the Wynn Hospital and at the Foltsbrook Care Center during her recent illness.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Friedel, Williams, & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Road New Hartford NY from 4pm to 7pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at Mary, Mother of our Savior Parish located at 2222 Genesee Street, Utica NY. Interment to follow at the Cedar Lake Cemetery at 374 Goodier Road Clayville NY. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon following the burial, at the Cedar Lake Club located at 382 Rider Road, Clayville at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Cedar Lake Cemetery Association attention Marcie Gallagher 203 Camp Road, Clayville NY 13322. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Money received will be used to purchase a new message board at the main gate.
