Fredrick F. Del Genio Sr., 62, of New Hartford, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Wynn Hospital.

He was born on December 5, 1962, in Syracuse, the son of Jeanne (Kozlowski) Del Genio and the late Fredrick Del Genio. Fred graduated from Utica Free Academy and Mohawk Valley Community College. On June 4, 1988, he married the love of his life, Reneé Cornacchia, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica.

Fred began his career at Grand Union Grocery Store in Utica and later became a loyal employee for UPS. He retired in January 2025 after dedicating over 30 years of service as a delivery driver. Following his retirement, he enjoyed meeting friends and fellow UPS retirees for breakfast.

Fred’s greatest joy was his family. He always looked forward to the annual Del Genio family summer vacation, where he was able to unwind with some of his favorite people. His unwavering devotion to his children shone through in the stands – he never missed their collegiate games and continued to support his daughter as she began her own coaching career. Fred’s enthusiasm for sports was evident in his lifelong loyalty to the New York Yankees and New York Giants. He cherished sharing that passion with his son, attending several professional baseball and basketball games together. Among his other passions, he loved to find his next big project around the house and whether he knew how to do it or not, Fred always found a way.

To his family, Fred was nothing short of a hero. In passing, he continued to give selflessly, providing the gift of life to three individuals through organ donation. In honoring Fred’s legacy, the family encourages others to consider becoming an organ donor.

He is survived by his loving wife, Reneé; his children, Fredrick F. Del Genio Jr. and his fiancé, Megan Jenkins, and Dana Del Genio and her wife, Rebecca Schnorr; mother, Jeanne Del Genio; his siblings, Margaret Finch and her husband, David, Jennifer LaFleche and her husband, Michael, David Del Genio and his wife, Cindy, and Catherine Barnes and her husband, James; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to all family members and friends for their love, kindness, and support shown during this extremely difficult time.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, November 8, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. The funeral will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor Fred’s memory consider donating to a youth sports organization, reflecting his lifelong love of athletics and mentorship.
