Obituary

Evelyn May Smith, 79, passed away on Tuesday September 14, 2021, at the Pines of Utica.

She was born on September 19, 1941, in Glens Falls, NY to Lois and Carl Smith. Evelyn was employed by St. Margaret’s Ecumenical & Retreat Center for several years until she retired. Evelyn was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Hartford, NY. Sher served diligently and was passionate about having refreshments after Sunday worship. She was an avid reader.

She is survived by two sisters, Henrietta and brother-in-law Gordon Palmer of Queensbury, NY, Wanda Wright (brother-in-law recently deceased), of Fort Ann, NY and one brother William Smith of Schuylerville, NY, a very special friend Rev. Dr. Mary Webster (known as Pastor Mary), and her First Baptist Church family.

We want to thank all the medical staff at the Pines of Utica on the 2nd and fourth floors for their tender care.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Evelyn’s name may be made to Anita’s Stevens-Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio Street, Utica, NY 13502.

The service is entrusted to Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Service, New Hartford. There are no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 PM Saturday at the First Baptist Church, New Hartford, NY.
