Elenore Jane Madden McCormick, 96, died peacefully at the Sitrin Community in New Hartford, NY on December 28, 2020, where she had resided for the past two and a half years.

She was born on December 26, 1924 and lived in the Albany area for over 93 years.

Elenore was the youngest child of Helen Matthews Madden and Joseph Madden. Her siblings Joseph Madden Jr, Alice Grant, and Ruth Wilson all predeceased her.
On September 16, 1950, Elenore married the adventurous William “Bill” McCormick, a devoted relationship of 53 years that ended with Bill’s death in 2003. Eleanor and Bill enjoyed many travel adventures by car, and later bus trips.

Elenore held various positions at Shell Oil Albany from 1950 - 1970 and later worked at Professional Marketing Food Brokers of Albany until her retirement in 1982.
Well into her 93rd year, Elenore was an avid bowler who used a ball that was heavier than most people many years her junior would have used. She was an active member of the Guilderland Chapter of AARP. In addition, Elenore was a founding and active member of the Half Moon Button Club and had a valuable collection and extensive knowledge of vintage buttons.

Elenore was known as Aunt Jane to her nieces and nephews: Charles Grant (Jane), New Hartford, NY, Sariann Grant Langlois (Cliff), Stamford, CT, Louise Madden Plocharsky (Dave), Louisburg, NC, Margaret Madden, Hartford, CT, Timothy Grant (Judith), Pittsburgh, PA, and James Madden who predeceased her. In addition, she had five great nieces and nephews and seven, soon to be eight, great-great nieces and nephews.

Elenore’s family is grateful for the patience and care given to her at the Sitrin Community both at Cedarbrook and Mulberry House. Memorial contributions may be given in her name to the charity of your choice.

Arrangements are being made through Friedel, Williams, & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services in New Hartford, NY. Interment will take place at Memory’s Gardens, Watervliet-Shaker Road, Albany, NY.
