Elena Marie Yuhasz, age 68, of Otter Lake, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 25, 2025, at the Abraham House in Rome, NY, after courageously battling metastatic ovarian cancer since 2021.

Born on October 13, 1956, in Utica, Elena grew up on Potato Hill Road in Boonville, NY. She graduated from Adirondack High School and built a life defined by hard work, creativity, and a love of people. Over the years, she worked as a bartender and waitress, cared for the Adirondack League Club through her cleaning work, and ultimately built a 40+ year career buying and selling antiques.

In her free time, Elena cherished the high life of living in the Adirondacks: backyard cookouts and bonfires with friends and family, hunting for treasures at garage sales, tending to her gardens, painting, and attending live concerts. She had a generous heart, a sharp wit, and an ability to make those around her feel welcome.

Elena was predeceased by her father, Julius Yuhasz; her beloved sister, Julanne (“Jule”) Cooper; and her former spouse, Robert Cross, Father of Audrey Cross. She is survived by her mother, Marie Eldridge; her brother, Steven Yuhasz; her former spouse, Walt Sudol, Father of Matthew Sudol and wife Stephanie, and three sons—Logan, Lucas, and Oliver; former spouse, Jay Evans, Father of Michael Evans.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff and volunteers of the Abraham House for their compassionate care during Elena’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Abraham House, to help others in their end-of-life journey, or to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, which provides resources and support to survivors and their caregivers.

At Elena’s request, there will be no formal funeral service. A celebration of life will be held at a later date, where friends and family can gather to honor her memory. Arrangements are with Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
