Edward P. Moran, of Alder Creek, died August 10, 2023, at Sitrin Healthcare Center.

He was born in New Hartford, NY, on February 14, 1940, the son of Robert B. and Collette E. (Kistner) Moran. Edward studied locally at MVCC obtaining an associate degree in mechanical engineering. He then continued his education, graduating from Syracuse University with a bachelor’s degree in operations management.

Edward was employed by General Electric for over 40 years and retired as an Aerospace Engineer in 2004. Edward was a volunteer fireman for North Syracuse FD in his younger years, an honorary Kentucky Colonel and later was a member of the NYS Civil Air Patrol, working on obtaining his pilot’s license. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved and respected nature. His children always remember him picking up trash along paths in the woods, litter in the water when boating and while walking on the beach. He instilled that same respect and appreciation for nature in them. Edward enjoyed all outdoor activities and sports, especially hunting with his son. His canine companion Molly, who lived a brief five years, brought him great joy and comfort during the onset of his disease.

He is survived by his children, Kimberly A. Colbert and her husband Shawn of Kentucky, Michael E. Moran of New Hartford, Kelly K. Moran and her partner Kurt Scheff of Florida, J. Meghan Moran of Utica; his grandchildren Matthew K. Moran of Saratoga Springs, Katherine K. Moran of Malta, Michael C. Fitzgerald of Utica; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers William and Robert Moran and his sister Patricia Lasek.
