Eddie “Big Nose Eddie” Richardson Sr.

Eddie Lee Richardson Sr., age 65, entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 22, 2026, surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born in Belle Glade, FL on May 3, 1961, Eddie was the beloved son of Jewel and Harry Lee Richardson. Eddie was born with a twin brother who preceded him in death as an infant. Eddie was loved and cared for during his upbringing by Rachel Gordon and Leola, whom were loving motherly figures in his life. He received his education while residing in Florida and attended Lakeshore High School. Eddie left Florida and came to start his next chapter of life in Utica during the 1970s. It was here in Utica that he had the honor and blessing of becoming a father to four children.

Eddie held various positions of employment at several local companies over the years such as Masonic Home, Faxton St. Luke’s, HTC, and City of Utica Youth Bureau. Eddie was a hard worker and was dedicated to any position he held.

Eddie, most known affectionately as “Big Nose Eddie,” was known for his humorous storytelling and was widely known in his community. Eddie was a man with a big heart and lots of love to give. Eddie would always show love and joy whenever greeting friends and acquaintances. Throughout Eddie’s life, his love for children also became something he was known for. From growing up as a young man and caring for his siblings, to love and caring for his own children, he later became the best babysitter around for all of his nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and even some who were not related but had the chance to know his love and form a bond with him. He loved all the children and they truly loved him back.

Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren. He took a lot of pride in being a grandfather and loved spoiling each and every one of them. Now if you truly knew Eddie, you would know that he was very 420 friendly. Every time you’d see him, he would have a cherished spliff in his mouth. “Puff, Puff, Pass” was one of his favorite pastimes. He was truly the coolest guy with the most chillest vibe. No one really had anything other than a kind word to say about him.

Eddie also had a love of cooking and was deemed a true grill master. Family and friends loved to gather at the lake to enjoy his meals that he always put much love into. Eddie was most thoughtful and helpful to anyone who needed him. He never shied away from sharing his dime for someone in need. Eddie’s warm, loving, caring nature will dearly be missed.

Eddie leaves to mourn his memory, his children: Cheryl Richardson Reed of Utica, NY; Eddie Richardson Jr. of Charlotte, NC; Ryan Richardson of Ashton, NC; and Michelle Richardson of Utica, NY. His grandchildren: Eddie Richardson III, Romeo, Amir, Sa’Rya, Jayson, Blake, Tiarra, Hartley, Mackenzie, Kylie, and Sherri. He also leaves his siblings: JC Richardson of Pahokee, FL; Leroy Richardson; Americus Gordon; Willie Jean Richardson; Brenda (Derrick) McKenzie of Pahokee, FL; and Vanessa Richardson of Belle Glade, FL.

He was preceded in death by siblings Shirley Wade, Diane Frazier, Katrina Richardson, and Troy Richardson.

The family would also like to acknowledge those near and dear to his heart: cousins Tecola and Lunda; his uncle John Mayo; and special friends Carol Washington, Carrie Garrett, Bunnie Garrett, Linda Legett, and Lamont Billins.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to the ICU department at Wynn Hospital and Nurse Toni M. Oles for the great care provided to Eddie.

A calling hour will be held at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services at 1123 Court St., Utica, NY, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 4, 2026. The funeral service will follow calling hours at 5:30 PM.
