Obituary

Dr. Joseph M. Osman, 72, of Utica, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare.

He was born on August 5, 1951, in Allentown, PA, a son of the late Robert and Mary Brandmeier Osman. He was graduated with a PhD in Physics and served in the United States Marine Corp. He married Shirley Malko in 1980 and she passed away in 2018. Joseph worked as a civilian contractor for the United States Air Force in Rome.

With his free time, he enjoyed science fiction and spending time on the website Quora. Joseph cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren taking them bowling or to the trampoline park.

He is survived by his two children, Sean Osman and his wife, Maggie and Anya Nugent and her husband, Jason; grandchildren, Hazelbell and Teagan Osman, Jason, Jr., Jordan and Juliana Nugent; eight siblings and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two siblings.

The funeral will be on Thursday at 10:00 am at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
