Obituary

Doris M. Triola (nee Helmer) formerly of Utica, New York passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Friday September 10, 2021, at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, New York surrounded by family.

Doris was born in Utica, New York to Gorden F. and Marion (Dillenbeck) Helmer on April 29, 1930.

Doris graduated from Oneonta State College in 1952 and in 1956 returned to Oneonta to complete her M. S. in Education and in 1961 a degree in Guidance and Counseling. After serving 33 years in education as a teacher and counselor in the Clinton School District, Utica, New York, Doris retired in 1985. After retiring she became a Stephen Leader and Minister at the Central Methodist Church, a position she held for 10 years.

In 1961 Doris married her beloved husband of 55 years, Vincent who predeceased her in 2016. Together they enjoyed many wonderful winters in their home in Marco Island, Florida.

Doris is survived by her brother William F. Helmer (Sandy). Brothers-In-Law Robert (Florence) Linz, Ray Snider and sister-in-law Lena Puglielli, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be celebrated on September 19, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Maynard United Methodist Church, Marcy. Interment will be in the Prospect Cemetery, Prospect, New York. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford.
