A light has gone out in the world, now heaven is a little brighter. The chorus of angels has gained a new voice. On Friday April 21, 2023, Dominick (Rick) Gerard Mondi, who "marched to the beat of a different drummer" passed from this world to the next and into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Rick was born in 1963 to Dr. Frank and Clorinda Mondi in New Hartford, NY.

He lived a spiritual life and found beauty in all things. He had a special connection with nature and an even more so with music. Rick measured success not by material gain but by what he could bring to the world. He embraced a life where he spoke the language of love through music. He loved in a way that was complete and unconditional and shared his love with everyone he encountered. Rick was a gentle soul, finding happiness and acceptance in everything. He was intelligent, kind, compassionate and exceedingly devoted to living his life centered around God. He passionately shared his faith with others.

Rick had a brilliant and creative mind which was expressed in his lifelong love of music. This love started at a young age which led to him becoming a talented percussionist, singer/songwriter and composer. Performing came naturally to him and he had a passion for entertaining others with his gifts. He joined the Rhythm Lights where he began crafting his musical talent and went on to become a great drummer in the New Hartford Marching Band, became a founding member of the band "Cold Sweat" and eventually went on to write and perform as a solo artist in many different venues. He enjoyed playing in the Island Band for many years and continued to be a part of the music world throughout his life.

Rick attended Potsdam University, graduating from the Crane School of Music. He later obtained his MBA from Syracuse University and spent his career serving others in the insurance and financial industry. His most recent career accomplishment was being published in the CPA journal.

Rick had a special relationship with his children, Anastasia Marie and Frank Joseph Mondi. He married Debra Coniglio in 1999 and spent many happy years being a great husband and father. He shared his passion for music, his deeply rooted spirituality and his love of their pets with his children. He was so proud of Anastasia’s educational and career successes as well as Frankie’s accomplishments on and off the ice.

Rick is survived by his children Anastasia Mondi and Frank Mondi, his father Dr. Frank Mondi, his siblings Marie Elena McNamara (Dan), Dr. Philip Mondi (Sandy), Megan Looney (John) and his nieces and nephews Alison Hearty (Samantha), Sarah Lallier (Zachary), Philip Mondi (Leonella), Jack Looney, Lauren Cottrell (Dylan), Andrew Looney, Joseph Looney, Austin Mondi and Grace McNamara, his precious great nephews Granger Lallier, Elias Mondi and his niece Parker Olivia Cottrell.
