Obituary

Dixie Rose Barone, age 68 of Clark Mills, NY passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Oneida Health surrounded by close family and friends.

She was born on November 12, 1955, at Rome Memorial Hospital, and was the daughter of Robert and Margaret Smith. Dixie was a graduate of both Westmorland High School and the Utica School of Commerce, where she earned a Business Administration degree.

Dixie met the love of her life David Farley in June 1991. Over the years, they made many memories of taking trips, going to concerts, and spending time with their family and friends. In addition, Dixie enjoyed reading, playing cards & bingo, and snipping lilacs, her favorite flower. She also enjoyed swimming in her pool and coloring, picking blackcaps, & discovering 4-leaf clovers with her grandchildren. Dixie enjoyed gardening, going to the Zoo, and was an avid country music fan.

Dixie was survived by her husband David, her daughter Holly and son-in-law Chris Devoy, her son Eddie and daughter-in-law Trisha Barone, her grandchildren Benny Roosenberg, Arsen Barone, Jace Barone, and Brysen Hitchcock, her sister Gloria and brother-in-law Fred Seifried, sister-in-law Lois and brother-in-law Jim Constantine, her many nieces and nephews, her sweet dog Frankie, and her favorite house plant, Clyde Jr. She was predeceased by her father Robert and mother Margaret Smith and her favorite pug, Pookie.

The family would like to thank the team at Oneida Health and the many special family members and friends who went above and beyond.

The funeral will be on Tuesday, June 11 at 1:00 pm at Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm prior to the funeral.
