In Memory of Daniel C. Austin

Obituary

Daniel C. Austin, 67, of West Winfield, passed away August 7, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

He was born August 15, 1949, in Batavia, a son of Dr. Bert P. and Marie (Soule) Austin. Dan graduated from UFA in 1967, and attended Fulton-Montgomery Community College. On February 2, 1980, he married the former Patricia Kuroski.

Dan retired from National Grid as an Underground Supervisor after having worked for the company for nearly 40 years. He was active with IBEW Local 97, and had served as Union Steward. Dan enjoyed spending time at his camp on White Lake whenever possible, and in his younger years enjoyed water and snow skiing, and running the Boilermaker.
Survivors include three sons, Joshua and his girlfriend Stephanie Lombino, Zachary, and Daniel ; a granddaughter, Anja; brothers and sisters Peter (Jean Bjorenson) Austin, Pamela (John) Laurenzi, Andrea (Ralph) Cianfrano, Michael (Yvonne) Austin, Melanie Potaczala, Valerie Hyland, and Paul (Paula) Austin; a brother-in-law, Bob Desnoyers; his wife, Patricia Austin; his significant other, Bonnie Hensel; many nieces and nephews; and his feline buddy, Penny. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Diane Desnoyers.

Dan’s family would like to acknowledge the kind and compassionate care given to him by the entire ICU staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Dan’s Life to be held at Tom Cavallo’s Restaurant, 40 Genesee Street, New Hartford, on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral and Cremation Services, New Hartford, NY.
