Dale M. Bankert, 1948-2020, Utica, NY, Las Vegas, NV, Farmingville, NY

Dale M. Bankert, 71, of Farmingville NY, passed away on January 20, 2020, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 23, 1948, in Utica NY a son of Harold and Jane Bankert.

Dale was a graduate of the Utica Free Academy class of 66’ and attended Utica College before joining the United States Army where he served as an enlisted Specialist 5 from 1968-1972. While serving in the US Army Dale was the recipient of the Army’s commendation medal for Meritorious Service.

On February 02, 1980, Dale married the love of his life, Teresa (Romeo) and they would have celebrated 40 years of marriage next month.

Dale was employed with the Utica National Insurance Group from 1972 until his retirement in 2007 as a Senior Account Underwriter. Dale was an avid player/coach with the Utica Muny League Softball Association for many years as well as a player/team captain with the Clinton Amateur Hockey League for many years and he proudly served as a member on the Bill Horton Foundation.

Dale was an avid sports fan and loved watching his favorite teams the LA Dodgers and the Cleveland Browns.

Dale cherished his daughter Lauren and she was truly the apple of his eye!

After his retirement Dale moved to Las Vegas to fulfill Teresa’s dream of living 365 days in warm weather. He was happy once Lauren had moved to Vegas as well as he had always said that “the family was together again!” For Dale he enjoyed the fact that he was also only 4 hours from Dodger stadium.

In 2016 Dale and Teresa had moved to Long Island to be closer to Lauren and her husband Rich Mones whom Dale had thought of as the son he never had.

Being a “Dad” and “Pa” brought the most joy to him. Dale was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren Avery Skye and Ryker Jett Mones whom he loved and enjoyed spending time with. He loved Avery’s sleep overs and was looking forward to when Ryker could join in on the fun. Dale enjoyed singing “take me to the ball game” to them as much as they enjoyed hearing him sing it to them.

Dale leaves behind his wife Teresa, daughter Lauren (Rich) Mones and his cherished grandchildren Avery Skye and Ryker Jett Mones all of Long Island. Dale also leaves behind his nephew and niece whom he considered his own children, James (Holly) Toomey Jr. of New Hartford, NY and Lisa (Chris) Brown of Clermont, FL. The love, support and care they provided to Dale especially in the end was above and beyond.

Dale also leaves behind many lifelong friends, he loved life and loved being surrounded by his loved ones.

Dale was preceded in death by his father Harold Bankert, mother and father in law Mary and Joseph Romeo.
